Meet Jenny!

Hi! I'm Jenny, the artist behind The Lumpy Mug. I'm a labor and delivery nurse turned potter who takes the beauty of birth and translates it into ceramic art. I love taking what I see in my job and tuning it into art that celebrates the magic of birth. The idea for the placenta first came to me after I dove head first into wheel throwing during a sabbatical from my nursing job. I never imagined it would lead me here, but I am so glad it did!

More About me

Handmade pottery + the beauty of childbirth

Bringing together all of the amazing intricacies of childbirth and the beauty and strength of the female body with wheel thrown pottery made for you by a labor and delivery nurse.

I had the absolute honor of participating in a two-part interview for this series. In Part 1, I walk through the intimate journey of our time with Zeke, from diagnosis to our final moments with him. In Part 2, I’m joined by my dear friend Dr. Ali Lewis, who cared for me during the birth and death of my son. We dive into the story of working side by side as birth workers, the loss of her daughter, how our lives became inextricably linked through grief, and the lessons we learned along the way. It is a powerful and raw look at the interconnectedness of grieving mothers, the importance of showing up human in loss, and how exceptional care can transform a family's experience in perinatal loss.
